A snapshot from around the world
2018 was the year of two political anniversaries: 50 years of 1968 and 100 years of voting rights for German women.
We took this as an opportunity to participate in an international Women Arts Project and examine the ‘state’ of women’s freedom around the world.
How do women see and experience freedom today, privately, socially, professionally and politically?
What contrasts exist in the interpretation of (women’s) freedom around the world?
What is the state of women’s inner and outer freedom?
To visualise the thoughts from different cultures, we interviewed 25 women from 20 countries and 4 continents from our network. The answers brought to light a variety of views and contrasting positions.
The contributions could be heard in the Pathos Theatre via sound files and read on a wall newspaper.
Visitors were also able to write their own interpretations of freedom on the wall – and so an interactive discourse on the topic developed.
The idea was to inspire people to question and expand the boundaries of freedom and encourage women to pursue their own personal path to freedom.
